A short drive inland takes you to Morere Hot Springs or Lake Waikaremoana (native forest so vast, it is the largest native forest in the North Island) or head instead along the coast to a popular holiday and surfing spot, Mahia. The Wairoa coastline is also home to Rocket Lab Launch Complex - the world's first and only private orbital launch site.
