Welcome to Foxton
Foxton is the place to be! Located approximately 40km south-west of Palmy North and only a stone's throw to Wellington - the town has a fascinating history and produces New Zealand's yummiest soft drink, Foxton Fizz!
The Dutch capital of New Zealand, Foxton is famous for its windmill and Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom (the Maori and Dutch Museum). The community fundraised for the huge windmill, it was designed as a replica of a traditional 17th-century Dutch flour mill and holds pride of place in the township, attracting many visitors.
The very popular annual Spring Fling and Easter Fair events are held in the main street and attracts a huge crowd each time. The slightly smaller coastal settlement of Foxton Beach is a part of Foxton and is a popular holiday destination due to its excellent beach, and friendly atmosphere. There are many parks and reserves around Foxton Beach, with a great skate park to keep the kids entertained!
The beach is a popular swimming area in the summer, patrolled by the Foxton Surf Life Saving Club. The Manawatū River is a great place to sit and chill, with amazing views out to Kāpiti Island on a cracker day. The popular local food outlets include Mr Grumpy’s Takeaways, Reg's Takeaways, Four Square, Ocean Beach Eatery and The Little White Rabbit.
You will also find the ever-popular Manawatū Marine Boating Club situated on the estuary, sunsets with a cold beverage look priceless here!
The Foxton Property Brokers team are proud to be a part of the Foxton community and contribute to local businesses such as the Foxton Little Theatre, the Surf Life Saving Club and a multitude of fishing competitions, giving us an excuse to get out of the office and down to the beach!
