Welcome to
Between Timaru and Oamaru is where you'll find Waimate's rural centre. When European immigrants arrived, Waimate, which had been used by Maori as a seasonal hunting camp for centuries, became a saw-milling town. Since most of the town's original Edwardian structures are still standing, it has a quaintly antique feel.
Waimate is now a hub for berry production, forestry, and cattle farming. Additionally, it boasts a microclimate that produces top-notch pinot noir; try some at a nearby boutique winery.
The wild wallabies that now inhabit this area, which were first imported from Australia in the 1870s, are what make it famous. The Hunters Hills are home to the wallabies, which may be observed up close in wildlife.

The Te Waimate Mission House, constructed in 1832, is the lone remnant of the three mission houses that the Reverend Samuel Marsden established on behalf of the Church Missionary Society in 1830 with the consent of the local Ngapuhi.

Positioned to capture panoramic views stretching from Mahia Peninsula to Cape Kidnappers, this beautifully modernised waterfront residence offers the rare combination of exceptional outlook, practical family living, and space to truly enjoy life.
