Taumarunui is one of NZ's top outdoor adventure playgrounds! The Tongariro National Park is a world heritage site, it's not only precious to us here in NZ but it's a significant place of beauty for the whole world, so it's pretty spesh. Our three strong Mounga, Mt Ruapehu, great for skiing/snowboarding in winter or climbing and sightseeing trips via the Sky Waka in the summer! Ngauruhoe and Tongariro tower over you as you traverse the Tongariro Crossing walk or explore some of the easier walks or lakes and rivers in the park. Multiple mountain bike trails pass through ancient native forests, or you could paddle a canoe down the Whanganui River, catch a trout in Whakapapa River or take an adventure along the Forgotten World Highway! Beautiful trees stand tall because of the sheltered climate, and they offer some of the best autumn colour displays especially up against a backdrop of green hills.

The people are also one of this little town's assets, it won't take long to make new friends and feel a part of this thriving community. There are beautiful green spaces to enjoy, awesome sports fields and parks making this a great place to raise kids and teach them about all the fun they can have outside on their doorstep!
