Bang in the middle of the Canterbury Plains, Darfield is home to everything you could need. Small enough to know your neighbours, yet big enough to stretch out and have some space. We like to claim some renowned bakeries in the area, as well as some lovely little cafes. We have Christchurch just 40 minutes to the east, with beaches and the port hills; we have the mountains just 25 minutes to the west where you can mountain bike, hike, and ski. We have the mighty Rakaia River to our south and Waimakiriri to our North which covers those who love other outdoor pursuits.

As the main town between Christchurch and the West Coast region, it's often referred to as "The township under the Nor' West Arch". This is in reference to a weather phenomenon that often creates an arch of cloud, one which usually sits in an otherwise clear sky to the west of the township.

Darfield is a gateway to the scenic Southern Alps and Waimakariri and is also part of the Malvern districts' arable farming area. Surrounded by picturesque alpine views and high summer temperatures, Darfield is a beautiful yet remote place to call home.
