1986

Property Brokers was formed when Tim Mordaunt and Don Brown purchased Michael Gray Real Estate at 236 Broadway Avenue, Palmerston North. Property Brokers was open for business.

November

Property Brokers becomes part of United Realty.

1987

February

In February the Feilding branch was opened closely followed by a branch in Dannevirke in November.

1988

In 1988 Property Brokers Livestock was formed in Feilding. When the business was sold to Williams and Kettle in 1997, Property Brokers had twelve livestock agents.

1990

Property Brokers Insurance -  In 1990 Property Brokers Insurance in Feilding was formed and at the time it was sold, there were 15 insurance brokers employed. To this day it still trades as Property and Commercial Insurance Brokers.

Head office -  In 1990 the Property Brokers Head Office was built at 234 Broadway in Palmerston North, and two new branches were opened on The Square and Rangitikei street.

1994

Property Brokers Auctions - Property Brokers Auctions was formed in 1994 in Feilding, to sell machinery from a large yard next to Feilding Saleyard.

1995

NZ Realtors Network -  In 1995 Property Brokers Carterton was established and 50% of Pahiatua Realty was purchased forming our Pahiatua branch. Also in 1995 the NZ Realtors network was formed alongside Richardson’s in the Coromandel, Lodge Real Estate in Hamilton, and Eves in the Bay of Plenty. The purpose of the NZ Realtors Network is to have a nationwide network of real estate offices combining and sharing indepth local knowledge and experience across the country. Today, the NZ Realtors Network covers the whole country with over 190 real estate offices and 2,400 Sales Consultants and 400 Property Managers from Auckland to Otago.

1996

Hastings - The United Realty Franchise was purchased and the Hastings Property Brokers branch was opened.

1997

Greytown - Property Brokers opened the Greytown branch in the Wairarapa.  

1998

Hawke’s Bay & Wairarapa - After purchasing the local Ray White office in 1998, the Havelock North branch was opened closely followed by the Martinborough office which was also purchased from Professionals. Later that year the Waipukurau branch was opened and a new purpose built building was opened in Masterton as the Property Brokers hub in the Wairarapa.

2000

Horowhenua - In 2000 our Napier branch was established and following the purchase of Michael Nash Real Estate in Foxton, the first Horowhenua branch was opened.


2001

Ashhurst - In 2001 Property Brokers Ashhurst was opened.

2004

Taihape - In 2004 an office was opened at 735 Main Street in Palmerston North and Rangitikei Realty was franchised as Property Brokers in Taihape.

2005

Marton and Napier - Property Brokers Marton was opened in 2005 and in October of that year, the Taradale branch, an extension of Propery Broker Napier, was opened.

Property Brokers Compliance - Graham Stewart Ltd, a compliance fire and safety company, was purchased later that year and Property Brokers Compliance was established in the Manawatu.

2006

Clive - Knight Frank became part of the company in July 2006 and as a result, Property Brokers Clive was opened.

2008

Whanganui - In 2008 LJ Hookers in Napier was purchased and integrated into our Napier branch. In August, Ray White Whanganui was purchased and Property Brokers Whanganui was opened.

2009

Suttons in Marton, Bulls, Foxton, and Whanganui was purchased and amalgamated into our existing branches.
The IT Help Desk was established at Head Office, and our in-house design team expanded growing our Marketing team.

2010

South Island - Hastings McLeod Limited became a franchise of Property Brokers in 2010, expanding the brand into the South Island. The Property Brokers brand now spreads from the West Coast  right down to North Otago. The Integra Property Management rent roll was purchased at the end of 2010 and the Levin branch was opened.

2011

Levin - In 2011 the Levin Rental Managers franchise and building on Bristol Street was purchased and the Levin branch was established. Taihape and Pahiatua, two of our franchise branches, also became company branches later that year.

2012

Waikato - The Waikato came on-board in 2012 with the opening of Property Brokers Matamata. This was followed quickly by the opening of Property Brokers Te Kuiti.

2014

Westport - The franchise, Buller Real Estate, is purchased

Te Aroha - Property Brokers expands further into the Waikato region opening a branch in Te Aroha.

2015

King Country - 2015 saw Property Brokers firmly established in the King Country with the addition of the Taumarunui branch. Later that year the Hawke’s Bay region grew with the addition of it’s northernmost branch in Wairoa.

Wairoa - Property Brokers acquires Harcourts Wairoa expanding further into the region.

New head office - Property Brokers officially opened its new Head Office/ Branch in Palmerston North in March 2017, located next door to the original site of Property Brokers’ first office. Previously the Palmerston North teams worked out of four separate buildings. This modern, state of- the-art building shows how far the company has come from its humble beginning. The Waikato continues to expand with branches being opened in Tokoroa and Morrinsville.

Oamaru - Property Brokers welcomes Professionals Oamaru into the family. 

New era - Property Brokers refreshed their image after 25 years with the existing brand. The new brand is punchy and modern, and positions Property Brokers well to expand into the future.
Rolleston branch is welcomed to the team.

Leeston and Darfield are added to the locations Property Brokers proudly operates in 

Taupo - Property Brokers expands the team by welcoming Ray White/ Realty List and Sell on board. 

Oamaru - Property Brokers welcomes Professionals Oamaru into the family.
