Race to the Brewery Raises Over $50,000 for Charity

In a vibrant showcase of community spirit and athletic endurance, the 16th annual Race to the Brewery took place on Saturday, February 28th, beginning at Property Brokers in Palmerston North and finishing at the Tui Brewery in Mangatainoka, drawing impressive participation and reinforcing its reputation as a highlight on the regional events calendar. With 51 eager cyclists at the start line, the event once again demonstrated the community’s strong commitment to charitable causes and collective wellbeing.

Paul Roache, Property Brokers' Regional Director for Manawatū, Whanganui, and Taranaki, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

“One of our four core values at Property Brokers is ‘We are passionate about our communities and want to see them thrive,’ and Saturday was a powerful demonstration of how we put that value into action. Thanks to the tremendous support from our community, events like Race to the Brewery are possible, enabling us to reinvest those contributions back into the regions we serve through initiatives such as Relay for Life, the Rescue Helicopter, our volunteer fire brigades, and our scholarship programme. These efforts truly make a meaningful difference,” Roache said.

Guy Mordaunt, Managing Director of Property Brokers, also reflected on the event, noting, “The Race to the Brewery is not only a test of physical endurance but a meaningful way to bring our community together. The fantastic turnout this year really highlights the strength of that connection and the difference our fundraising efforts can make.”

This year's race raised more than $50,000, which will support several vital community services and initiatives, including Relay for Life, the local Rescue Helicopter service, regional Volunteer Fire Brigades, and the RTTB Sports Scholarship programme. These contributions will help sustain essential emergency services, expand educational opportunities and support young, upcoming athletes across the community, reinforcing the event's role as a driver of positive change.

Special acknowledgment is extended to the dedicated organising committee, committed marshals, and all enthusiastic participants. Their time, energy, and generosity were instrumental in the event’s success.

“The generosity shown by everyone involved is truly heartening and deserves our deepest gratitude. Be proud of what we have achieved together. I feel very honoured and privileged to work with such an amazing group of people,” Roache added.

And congratulations to long-time competitors, 360 Health & Fitness who took out the top honours this year, winning the Race to the Brewery shield for being the winning team on the day!

The Race to the Brewery continues to exemplify the remarkable achievements possible when people unite for a cause, pushing the boundaries of what can be accomplished and highlighting the enduring strength of community bonds.
