Dairy auction sets a market level for large scale dairy in South Waikato

Thursday, 12 November 2020

Ata Rangi, a substantial dairy farming portfolio stretching from Tokoroa to Whakamaru in South Waikato has sold!

The confidence in the New Zealand dairy sector, in a post Covid-19 economic outlook, was reinforced when Property Brokers sold $36.4m of dairy real estate at auction on the 6th of November in Tokoroa. This successfully concluded the sale of all Ata Rangi Pastoral Ltd's dairy assets, in the South Waikato.

"In total, six properties were sold, five under campaign this year with the final three under the hammer last week. The vendor's commitment to our marketing strategy over both the autumn and spring campaigns attracted many genuinely motivated buyers. In the end, this marketing programme not only delivered on our vendor's expectations, but it has also been a game-changer for a dairy market seeking to establish a level this season", says Conrad Wilkshire, Property Brokers General Manager Rural.

"This very large-scale 2350 ha (effective) dairy operation was converted to a very high environmental standard from production forestry back in 2015, in response to a growing worldwide demand for quality protein. Covid-19 has further ruled a line under the global demand for quality dairy products that support day-to-day nutrition and natural immunity", says Brian Peacocke, Property Brokers' lead Rural Sales Consultant for the marketing program.

Brian continues, "Our team know Ata Rangi, and its history well. We took great pride in marketing this portfolio and the benefits that the Ata Rangi group of properties offer. Potential buyers were invited to consider the efficiencies created by the significant scale, and corresponding investment returns. Ultimately it was locally owned, proven large scale dairy businesses that took up the opportunity to purchase the Ata Rangi Pastoral Ltd portfolio of farming assets."
