Easter is an opportunity to get creative, and make this already special time even more special for the kids!


We've listed some super cute craft ideas which are relatively easy to pull off for even the littlest of hands. We know you will have lots of fun making these crafts with the kids this year!


Easy Easter Candy Jars

What you'll need:

  • Small jars - any size or kind will doDecoupage glue (don't have? Make it with by boiling 1 cup water, 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1/4 cup of sugar and a 1/4 teaspoon of vegetable oil) Paint BrushFine GlitterCraft foam or paperLolliesPom PomsGoogley EyesHot Glue
  • Small jars - any size or kind will do
  • Decoupage glue (don't have? Make it with by boiling 1 cup water, 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1/4 cup of sugar and a 1/4 teaspoon of vegetable oil) 
  • Paint Brush
  • Fine Glitter
  • Craft foam or paper
  • Lollies
  • Pom Poms
  • Googley Eyes
  • Hot Glue

Instructions:

  • Take your brush and paint a thin layer of decoupage all over your jar. Sprinkle glitter on it and shake off the excess.Set this aside to dry.Glue the googley eyes onto your jarCut out two bunny ears from your craft paper and paste these at the top of the jarPop some glue on the back of a pom pom and paste this on the opposite side of the jar, this is the bunny tail!Use some paint and paper to create a bunny nose and mouthOnce everything is dry, fill your Easter jar with delicious lollies

  • Once everything is dry, fill your Easter jar with delicious lollies

Easter Egg Suncatchers

What you'll need:

  • Contact Paper Bright Tissue PaperSome RibbonSticky TapeScissors
  • Contact Paper 
  • Bright Tissue Paper
  • Some Ribbon
  • Sticky Tape
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  • Tear the bright tissue paper into strips - these can be as thick or thin as you like. Tissue paper is great to use because the colours really come to life when the sun shines through them, and, when they overlap, you get some great colour mix effects too!Cut out two rectangles of contact paper of the same size. You'll be cutting these into egg shapes later so they can be any size you like.Now, it's time to lay down the tissue paper strips across the contact paper rectangle. Be creative, you can cover the whole area or leave gaps - you can even overlap colours. There's no wrong or right to do it!Once your coloured strips are in place, go ahead and stick the second piece of contact over the top of the tissue paper to seal it up. Now, use a pencil to draw an egg shape on it, and then cut it out.Snip a bit of ribbon, and use some tape to fix it to the top of your egg. The Easter egg suncatchers are now ready to hang up!

  • Some multi-coloured woolCardboardHot glue/hot glue gunScissorsA marker

  • Cardboard
  • Hot glue/hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • A marker

Instructions:

  • Draw an egg shape onto your cardboard and cut it out with scissors.Hot glue the end of your wool onto one side of your cardboard egg and begin wrapping your wool around the egg in any direction.Once your cardboard is completely covered, cut the end of the wool, and carefully hot glue it to the back.Make a few more!

Salt Dough Easter Egg Ornaments

Salt dough is great for all sorts of shape-making. Once thoroughly baked, the dough can last for years. This dough is also paintable, which makes it all the more fun.

What you'll need:

  • A batch or two of salt dough (see recipe below)Rolling pinRuler, to measure dough thicknessegg shape cutterSpatulaStraws, for making holesParchment-paper covered baking sheetsSpray or acrylic paintRibbon

Easter Crayons

Finally, a way to use all those bits of crayons in a creative and fun way!

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 130°CGet the kids to choose which crayons they'd like to melt downRemove all wrappersGrab a non-stick muffin tin/grease the sides with cooking sprayPlace chunks of crayons into the mouldsPlace a baking sheet into the oven. Place the muffin tin on it. Melt the crayons for 10-20 minutes or until the melting is done. Monitor the process through the window.Let everything cool down, and place the moulds into the freezer.Remove the moulds after 30 minutes; the crayons should be ready to use.
  • Preheat your oven to 130°C
  • Get the kids to choose which crayons they'd like to melt down
  • Remove all wrappers
  • Grab a non-stick muffin tin/grease the sides with cooking spray
  • Place chunks of crayons into the moulds
  • Place a baking sheet into the oven. Place the muffin tin on it. 
  • Melt the crayons for 10-20 minutes or until the melting is done. Monitor the process through the window.
  • Let everything cool down, and place the moulds into the freezer.
  • Remove the moulds after 30 minutes; the crayons should be ready to use.

Balloon Egg Piñata

This one is super simple!

What you'll need:

  • Some balloonsMixed lolliesSharpies, paint and glitter to decorate the balloon
  • Some balloons
  • Mixed lollies
  • Sharpies, paint and glitter to decorate the balloon

Instructions:

  • Grab a balloon and fill it with lollies and different treatsBlow the balloon upDecorate the balloon with glitter and paintHang the balloon in a tree, or hide it somewhere with a toothpick taped to the side, once 'discovered' your child can pop the balloon with the toothpick and enjoy all the treats inside!

Bunny Bait

Create this fun little snack that the kids can lay around outside and hopefully draw the Easter bunny to your home.

What you'll need:

  • PopcornWhite chocolateBaking sprinklesMulti-coloured m&m's
  • Popcorn
  • White chocolate
  • Baking sprinkles
  • Multi-coloured m&m's

Instructions:

  • Pop the popcorn in a bowlMelt the white chocolate, pour over the popcornSprinkle the sprinkles over the popcornThrow the m&m's over the popcornStir throughPress the popcorn mixture into a baking panPlace everything into the fridge and let it set for roughly 10 minutesTransfer the popcorn into bowls and place these where the Easter bunny will find them!
  • Pop the popcorn in a bowl
  • Melt the white chocolate, pour over the popcorn
  • Sprinkle the sprinkles over the popcorn
  • Throw the m&m's over the popcorn
  • Stir through
  • Press the popcorn mixture into a baking pan
  • Place everything into the fridge and let it set for roughly 10 minutes
  • Transfer the popcorn into bowls and place these where the Easter bunny will find them!
