About Chris
With over 35 years in real estate and more than $2 billion in career sales, Chris Murdoch is recognised as one of the top rural agents in New Zealand. Based in Mid Canterbury, Chris has built an outstanding reputation for integrity, market knowledge and results, consistently ranking among Property Brokers’ leading national performers.
Chris’s roots are deeply connected to the Canterbury farming community. After leaving school, he worked on his family farm in Mayfield and spent time overseas gaining valuable experience on farms during his OE. On returning home, he established a successful agricultural contracting business, operating in baling, spraying and pig fattening for 12 years before pursuing a new direction in real estate in 1990. He joined Property Brokers’ Hastings McLeod team two years later and has since become a leading force in the rural and lifestyle property market.
Recognised as the top performing rural sales consultant in Mid Canterbury, Chris’s success is reflected in his strong base of repeat clients, major corporate and OIO transactions with well-known entities such as Chisnall Farms, Dairy Holdings, Padlea Dairies, the Tait and O’Connell Families, John Acland Family, Tribit Ltd and Align Farms, and an impressive $950 million in sales over the past 13 years.

Outside of real estate, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife Leonie, their children Georgina and Marcus, and grandchildren Hudson, Miller, Lily, Sophia and Huxley. He is a keen traveller, hunter and fisherman who brings the same energy and passion to life that he brings to his work.
