Michelle Oswald

The dynamic world of real estate is where Michelle Oswald found her calling. She quickly discovered that it provided the perfect blend of flexibility, the chance to forge meaningful connections, and the freedom to craft her schedule. Real estate isn't just about transactions; for Michelle, it became a realm where she could turn aspirations into reality, one property at a time. The allure of shaping her destiny and cultivating enduring relationships within the industry fueled her passion for real estate, making every day an exciting opportunity to create and thrive.

I was looking for something focused on helping others, one of my passions.

I have always had a keen interest in property, having done many DIY projects, and I love watching Phil and Kristie on Love It or List It! And all home makeover programs. I have a keen interest in staging and presentation.

A friend had suggested they were recruiting for agents at Property Brokers, and would I be interested? I thought, why not? This could work. Long story short, I was keen.

I looked into the study and realised I could do this from home while still working my full-time job, and my investment was just over $1000, so my thoughts were if I didn't think this was the career for me, it was a small investment and just my time. And so, just like that, I signed up.

My job was 40 hours a week, Monday to Thursday, with Fridays off. I knuckled down and spent Fridays and Saturdays over the next 3 ½ months working through the modules.

Although this was not easy at times, I thought, gees, I'd love a weekend off. I had set my goal to finish before Christmas and realised this was achievable, but you must get on and get it done like anything. My goal was if I spent this time, I could take a break over the holidays and start the new year with a new career, which I was excited about. The great thing about the training is you can work at your own pace. I found some of the modules easier than others, but plenty of help was available if you needed it.

Anyway, I'm now two and a half years into my new career. Coming into real estate in my mid-50s has been a challenge, more on the technology side, learning new skills and social media.

Still, I have discovered that you are always young enough to learn new things, and thank goodness for my fabulous coworkers who have guided me through this; I'm sure I've driven some of them nuts with my millions of questions.

But in all, it has been an excellent decision for me, and like any job, there are ups and downs, but in the end, it's how you have hopefully made that sale or purchase just that much easier and stress-free, and along the way, you get to make some great friends and acquaintances.
