Thermal and mineral springs are both found close to the centre of the town, as is the world's only hot soda water geyser. The mineral baths are a very popular spot for tourists and locals. Inside the Edwardian building in the Te Aroha domain, are mineral baths filled with natural, hot soda water that has made Te Aroha famous for over 100 years. Historically mining has also played a role in the area.
