Taihape is a town with a lot of heart and big boots to fill, especially on Gumboot Day.

Gumboot Day has put Taihape on the map, gaining it 'Gumboot Capital of the World' status. Easter Tuesday is traditionally a good day for throwing gumboots, holding stalls, events and generally turning the township into a shopping mecca.

Taihape is on State Highway One, a perfect break in a long journey for refuelling man and beast. Those who linger get to experience excellent hunting, fishing and rafting.

The ski fields are just an hour away, Lake Taupo one and a half hour's journey, and the cities of Palmerston North and Wanganui around an hour and ten minutes drive. Those that already live here love the location.
